Coyote Mentoring: Raising Nature-Smart Kids in a Modern World

A 3-Part Workshop Series for Parents, Educators, and Caregivers

_MG_9898From the beginning of time, our brains have been deeply patterned on nature. We tuned all our senses for survival, modeled sustainable living practices, and shared stories to help the next generation survive and thrive. As children grew, learning flowed from living close to the earth and having caring, connected adults to guide, challenge, and celebrate their process of maturing into fully empowered members of their community.

Coyote Mentoring is a creative mentoring approach that honors individuality, encourages self-sufficiency in learning, and awakens a kinship with nature. It returns learning to it’s native state. It is at the core of Vashon Wilderness Program’s nature-based mentoring, and is what makes our programs so special.

“… the future will belong to the nature-smart — those individuals, families, businesses and political and social leaders who develop a deeper understanding of the transformative power of the natural world… “

Richard Louv, author of The Nature Principle and the national bestseller Last Child In the Woods

VWP is thrilled to offer an introduction to our wider Vashon Island and surrounding Puget Sound community so that you, too, may learn some of these powerful, heart-centered, time-tested tools for natural learning and growth.

  • LEARN the principles of Coyote Mentoring, how to apply invisible schooling techniques and the natural cycle of learning that supports fun, engaged learning and growth.
  • EXPERIENCE some of the most valuable mentoring techniques to be found. Experience ancient practices that expand our body and brain capacity for learning.
  • GATHER with a community of like-minded folks who also want to inspire the children in their lives to find their passion for learning, be of service, and return to a more natural way of engaging with life.
  • BE GUIDED by experienced mentors who have facilitated thousands of people in the ways of Coyote Mentoring.
