Coyote’s Trail: Secrets of the Nature Mentor

A Six-Part Training for Those Who Want to Connect Kids with Nature

Science backs what personal experience has been telling us: when children enjoy a relationship with the natural world they express many positive qualities — such as peace of mind, vitality, compassion, focus, creativity, and more — qualities which are very much needed in order to thrive in our fast-paced world with its many challenges.

Join us for a behind-the scenes-look into one of the most powerful methods of nature mentoring around. The methodology is what makes our programs at Vashon Wilderness Program so special — and it is far reaching and can be applied by parents, grandparents, teachers, camp directors, mentors, and others who want to:

  • LEARN fun and exciting ways to connect children with nature;
  • CULTIVATE health and well-being in any group; and,
  • ENJOY themselves along the way!

“This is nature education as it should be — mysterious, timeless, hopeful, evocative and playful.”

~ David Sobel, author of Beyond Ecophobia: Reclaiming the Heart in Nature Education

Each month we’ll focus on material from the landmark book Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature, written by the founder of VWP’s renowned approach to nature mentoring. Our time includes:

  • Key concepts
  • Discussion
  • Activities, games, and “core routines” that you can use at home or with your group
  • Best practices from our ancestors for nurturing families and healthy community
  • Plenty of fun!

Whether you are new to Coyote Mentoring or have attended VWP’s Coyote Mentoring Training in the past, we welcome you to the adventure!
