Where your money goes:

Scholarships.  Since our inception, the Vashon Wilderness Program has provided financial assistance to those in need. We have never turned anyone away from our programs due to lack of funds, and we hope never to do so. Maintaining a healthy Scholarship Fund is what makes it possible for more than 40% of our enrolled families to benefit from the richness of our programs.  We believe that lack of funds should never prevent a child from the opportunity to learn and grow, or a family from feeling connected to a larger community of people who care for their children and the earth. We all benefit when we can come together in community to support our collective future – those children who attend our programs and the earth that they will care for long after our time.

Organizational Sustainability.  Donations make up an important part of the Vashon Wilderness Program’s operating budget for the current fiscal year. This includes necessities like salaries for our mentors and staff, supplies and materials, land use fees, insurance, and other operating expenses that are necessary to run a non-profit educational organization. Tuition covers only a portion of the cost of mentoring a student; the remainder is made up, in part, by your generous donations. We are a community of people who care about the world and its future. Your donation demonstrates your support of the Vashon Wilderness Program’s core values and mission.  Thank you!

Regardless of the size of your gift, your participation makes a difference! When combined with donations from other parents, friends, and other supporters, your gift provides substantial support for operating the Vashon Wilderness Program.
