What is something smaller than your hand that you feel grateful for?

Last Friday was a fun and spontaneous one! We had Kristiana (one of our elders) spend the day with us. She brought with her such wisdom, in the form of joy, curiosity and playfulness. We all absolutely love when she spends the day with us. As an instructor it is hard not to feel alive and inspired when she is around, and I could see the same sentiments reflected in the children. She led our gratitude circle with a question, asking us all if we could think of things we were grateful for that were smaller than our hands and to go around the circle and share them. Oh the things that were spoken! They melted my heart and put smiles on all of our faces, a blade of grass, chicks, huckleberries, a snowflake! :) Try it, it's so much fun...how many things can you think of that are smaller than your hand?

After story, snacks and fire, we all headed to Hartman Meadow to play Capture the Flag! Usually we leave it for the end of the year but we have quite a few 6 year olds this year and many children who LOVE to play games. It was a success! And one I am sure we will play more often. For those who did not want to play the game, Kristina and Linda (subbing for Yasmin) sat in the grass and made gratitude cards for parents and loved ones.

After lunch, we split up into our smaller groups and went on small wanders. Exploring the woods, discovering treasures and wonderful things, sitting quietly among our giant tree kin and practicing our quiet as a bobcat walk through the forest. A Lovely day for sure!
